ABOUT US
Allotment Management committee
Both Lamperds Field and Philip Road allotments are run by a single management committee in accordance with an agreement. The allotment rents paid for the plots go to the management committee who are responsible for spending this money in accordance with the agreement with Blandford Town Council. The additional £10 charge (per plot) levied by the Town Council on the Lamperds Field site, goes direct to the Council called a Ring Fence which is for maintenance to the allotment building and site.
The committee meet once every 2 months approximately to report on finances, correspondence and ideas.
All committee members give their time voluntarily and there are always more jobs than time available. Duties include: plot rentals, the budget and paying all the site bills as well as giving their time to enhance the running of the sites in both a social and practical capacity.

Potted History of the allotments
Written by: Cyril Hovard
There have been allotments in Blandford since 1897. Originally the site was 20 acres, and was situated where the Blandford Heights industrial estate now resides. Gradually, this land was sold off for industrial use until the last 3 acres were all that remained.
As these were 'statutory allotments' they therefore had to be replaced with new allotments. Lamperds Field was chosen.
Philip Road allotments have been there since 1945. They were built as part of the council estate within which it is sited. These allotments are non-statutory.
